Had an amazing experience and can't wait to go back. Yuki-san made our visit incredibly special and the food was delicious. The pizza was the best we've had in Japan by a mile and the home made chocolate cake for dessert was 10/10. My new favourite restaurant in Kyoto! Thank you Yuki!
Best meal I had in Japan. Yuki, the owner, runs the entire operation himself. He only serves one or two tables a night. The food is spectacular. Yuki explains everything before you order and the meal is like having dinner at a friend’s place. I cannot recommend this enough. Do not be shy, Yuki is the nicest guy in the world. His pastas put 99.99% of high end Italian restaurants to shame. You will leave with a full stomach and an even fuller heart. Yuki - thanks for the incredible meal my friend!
The food in this restaurant is just amazing. My partner and I went here and were lucky enough to get a booking, we did this through Facebook and it was soooo worth it. Yuki the owner is not only an amazing chef but such a great host. The whole experience you get when you dine here is very personal. Yuki is very informative around the menu which has lots of options and it all just looks amazing. He will guide you through his menu with lots of great photos and once you’ve made a decision he will become the chef. After we had eaten and dined in this small beautiful restaurant, Yuki joined us for a great chat and showed us many pictures of himself and his family. It really was such a great experience and one we will never forget. It really brought us back to Italy were we visited recently. If we are ever in Kyoto we will definitely be back !!
Yuki was not only extremely pleasant company but also an incredible chef. He had gone from his norm of serving a party of 2 or 4 to accommodate our party of 6 which is no small feat as all cooking is done solely by him. He talked us through every dish - from where he sources his ingredients to how he makes everything. His passion for the food he makes shines through the amazing meals he cooked and nobody was left wanting. We have been to Italy many times, being from Europe ourselves, and we can confidently say that his food is as good as any traditional Italian food you would find there. The dessert was equally as spectacular as the main courses and starters - a delicious serving of homemade chocolate fondant and stracciatella ice cream. He was also very accommodating to one of our parties nut allergy and his lovely personality came out when we told him how it was another party members birthday and he taught us how to say happy birthday and congratulations in Japanese. Yuki, thank you so much from the entire Carberry family! We hope to meet you again !
Had dinner at Trattoria Macedonia Yuki last night. The food and service were one of the best restaurant experiences I’ve ever had. Very friendly chef and I feel like I made a new friend! I have visited Italy a few times and the food here is even better! Highly recommended and if I visit Japan again it will be a place I make sure to come back to
My wife and I just completed a three-day stay in Kyoto. From a culinary perspective, the highlight of our trip was the meal served by Yuki. This was the best Italian food we’ve ever had; and it was in Kyoto, Japan. Yuki is a one-man show as he fulfills the roles of waiter, cook and cashier. His passion for Italian food is revealed in each dish. If you’re lucky enough to get a table (he only seats 2-parties at a time), please treat yourself and someone special to amazing food and good conservation.
I stumbled upon this restaurant when planning our recent trip to Japan. With two out of four of our family with limited palates, I had to have some familiar dinner options. I booked dinner on a Wednesday at the 6 pm seating. We turned out to be the only seating, so a private restaurant for us!! Yuki reviewed the entire menu in detail with photos. We ordered an assortment of antipasti, mains and dessert with a nice bottle of wine. Every plate was empty at the end of the meal!! The food was so good!! We spent time getting to know Yuki! My kids never choose to speak with adults they don’t know but they enjoyed Yuki’s food and company….they didn’t want to leave. We will cherish this memory! When we return to Kyoto, we will return to Yuki’s restaurant!
Yuki cares tremendously about his customers and the Italian food he prepares. The food is better than in Italy! This is a one of a kind place created by a one of a kind guy wearing Maison Margiela shoes. Best spot in Kyoto and our entire Japan trip. -Josh & Nicole
